Job Description
The Legal Officer is responsible for:

  • Providing legal advice on Hall 7 related matters.
  • Preparing, maintaining, and summarizing legal documents.
  • Supporting the review of all documents and applications to ensure compliance with current Real Estate and construction industry laws and regulations.
  • Effectively distribute letters and documents both internally and externally.
  • Regularly and accurately maintaining and updating correspondence and other filings.
  • Liaising with the administrative and research departments to ensure effective distribution of letters and documents both internally and externally.
  • Conducting extensive and detailed research of legal documents dealing with proposed laws and amendments to existing laws to assure conformance with legal requirements.
  • Providing a high level of client service at all times, responding to Ad hoc requests for information from clients, document preparation, and research.
  • Assisting in the day-to-day running of transaction documents and files to ensure that all property transactions and paperwork are filed according to legal requirements with the appropriate institutions and court.
  • Drafting legal documents, eg deeds, addendums, contracts, memorandums of agreements, sales and purchase agreements, default letters, etc.
  • Responding to all inquiries with professionalism, diplomacy, and ethics.
  • Attending general investment and project meetings as required for necessary documentation and projection of goals and duties.
  • Providing counsel and support to all legal matters concerning the company and ensuring that such matters are handled in a professional and timely manner.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or his designate.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Law and must have been called to the Nigerian Bar school.
  • Must be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
  • At least 4 years overall experience in a legal position.
  • At least 2 years relevant experience in Real Estate and Property law.

Required Competences:

  • Results-oriented self-starter with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to respond discretely and effectively to sensitive inquiries, complaints, and matters.
  • High level of integrity. Must possess a good balance of thoughtfulness and action.
  • Advanced presentation and conveyancing skills associated with Real Estate and construction industry.
  • Ability to understand, analyze and interpret complex documents.
  • Highly organized with a proactive mindset and ability to manage complex situations with a profitable end result.
  • Demonstrates ability to be creative in approaching legal matters skillfully while building trusting relationships.
  • Solid understanding of Real Estate contracts, business, and transaction law.
  • Possess working knowledge of MS Office package.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds, personalities, and opinions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent investigative research, negotiating skills, and ability to define a legal problem and come up with solutions.
  • Must be a confident public speaker.
  • Good communication skills in writing, listening, and speaking English
  • Must uphold the code of conduct of a Legal Practitioner E.g. Confidentiality.
  • Ability to inspire trust and motivate peers
