Overview
- We are looking for an Account Reconciliation Officer whose primary role is to manage bank accounts with various banks daily, have overall control over them, manage both payments and deposits and reconcile them as well as ensure financial balance sheet accounts and the bank reconciliations are accurate, daily.
- You are to ensure that deductions are legally and statutorily correct and report on controls and processes while identifying where there are problems and inefficiencies.
- You will work with other cross-functional team members and will rely heavily on both qualitative and quantitative data to make informed decisions.
- Your duties may also include training new employees and maintaining open communication with other departments during your day.

Responsibilities
- Monitor all banking activities to detect irregularities.
- Daily reconciliation of bank balances in various banks
- Daily reconciliation of bank statements in various banks regarding cash at hand and cash at bank
- Investigate all transactions to prevent fraud.
- Analysing data regarding bank accounts
- Provide documentation for the purpose of supporting all financial transactions.
- Reconcile bank reports to bank statements.
- Reconcile and process transactions that are complex in nature.
- Generating bi-weekly reports on deposits
- Preparing monthly bank reconciliation reports regarding all cash deposits to the bank(s)
- Assist auditors – Internal and external – with the documentation required for the auditors to do their job satisfactorily.
- Continuously follow up on all transactions continuously and provide updates to the management.
- Reconcile discrepancies in different accounts.
- Identify the root cause of any discrepancies and eliminate them to prevent further variances.
- Continuously implement ways to improve reconciliation processes and controls.
- Adhere to corporate standards and procedures in all reconciliation activities.

Requirements
The ideal candidate must have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- At least 2 years experience as an Account Reconciliation Office in the Bank
- Has knowledge of general accounting principles and workings of the banking system
- Demonstrate the required skill to perform detailed work accurately and promptly
- Strong problem-solving, verbal, written and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision while achieving benchmarks.
- Tech-savvy with a strong online presence on one or more social networks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to multitask.
