Mission/Authority

Under the direction of the Director of Compensation, the Compensation Analyst supports alignment of HR policies and practices related to compensation administration to ensure equity and consistency across the mission.

Essential Duties:

Compensation

  • Participate in local, national and global salary surveys and analyze results to determine Young Life’s position relative to other organizations.
  • Conduct job analysis, grading and pricing to determine appropriate pay level according to compensation guidelines, internal comparisons and external market comparisons.
  • Perform audits periodically or on request to determine if jobs are current and relevant to external market rates.
  • Research, analyze and ensure mission wide compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), federal and state wage and hour laws concerning payment of minimum wage, recreational and amusement exemptions, and other exemption statuses.
  • Oversee the geographic cost of living rates for U.S. and International staff and establish annual international housing supplement rates.
  • Provide training, guidance and interpretation of various compensation policies and procedures and recommend salary adjustments as needed.
  • Perform research of industry trends each fiscal year to provide annual salary and structure increase recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Work in conjunction with the Finance department in implementing and administering the annual compensation budget process to facilitate mission wide salary changes.
  • Review and approve annual salary increase permitted within budgetary limits and according to Young Life pay policies.
  • Review and approve proposed salary increase requests outside the normal annual budget timeframe.

  • Compile an annual report and analysis of CEO pay comparatives and CEO total compensation history to the Executive Committee of Young Life Board of Directors as it relates to Intermediate Sanctions.
  • Coordinate and expedite executive committee CEO pay decisions and CEO employment contract.
  • Collect, prepare reports and analyze mission wide wage and salary data. Work with Young Life leadership to resolve pay equity issues.
  • Maintain job codes, titles and current salary data within the HRIS system.
  • Maintain and update Salary Range with Job Title List, Individual Rate Determination forms, and Job Title Matrixes.
  • Perform a variety of internal audits related to salary administration practices to provide analysis to management.
  • Work with the HR Content Development Specialist to ensure all compensation tools and materials on Young Life Staff Resources are up to date and accurate.
  • Research, develop and implement tools to enhance the annual compensation budget process and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain tools, resources, and guidelines on Staff Resources to assist Field staff with compensation processes.

Job Title Structures

  • Develop, review and revise job descriptions, and determine appropriate pay grade and FLSA status.
  • Work with hiring managers to determine where new positions fit within their respective organizational charts.

HR Administration

  • Support cross-functional human resources initiatives and sponsored events.
  • Provide general human resources administrative support as needed.

Education:

BA degree or minimum of two years related work experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required For The Job:

  • Thorough knowledge of compensation principles and practices.
  • Mathematical aptitude and strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent project management and business literacy skills
  • Proficient at working with all levels of management and staff with interpersonal savvy and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate with confidence in order to write, interpret and explain information related to compensation and HRIS both one-on-one and in groups
